[Recording]: Spotlight Series #4 - Meet Aisha Abubakar

At the end of the day, it’s all about the numbers. The more (quality) applications you submit, the higher your chances of success. Don’t overthink it—submit that application today! 🚀

Our session with Aishat Abubakar was nothing short of inspiring!

One of the most impactful takeaways from Aishat’s session was the importance of staying agile and adaptable in pursuing your goals. She emphasized not letting job titles or specific positions limit your sense of fulfillment. This was beautifully illustrated by her unexpected pivot from media to finance—a path she didn’t initially plan for but has fully embraced. Aishat also opened up about dealing with job rejections, the importance of a strong support system, and how perseverance played a vital role in her journey.

The session wasn’t just about her story, though. Aishat generously offered practical advice on navigating job applications, tailoring CVs, and standing out in scholarship applications. She emphasized the importance of starting early, doing thorough research, and seeking guidance from mentors and peers.

What should you expect as you listen? Well, among others:

  • Journey to First Class at Fountain University

  • Motivation for graduate school and securing a fully funded offer

  • Career Transition to Finance

  • Navigating Rejection

  • and lots more…

Just in case you’re interested, Aishat runs a fantastic podcast called “Moments with Nana.” In each episode, she talks about the challenges and successes of Black Muslim women in the corporate world. She explores topics like workplace culture, faith, and the intersectionality of our identities, all while breaking down stereotypes. I recently listened to her latest session, and it was truly inspiring. Highly recommend checking it out!
